Outdoor advertising is
one of the most popular ways of marketing a product or service. In the past,
outdoor lighting meant hanging lit up billboards. The advent of LED lights
changed that, because they do not consume any electrical energy but only rely
on sunlight for their illumination. The result was better quality lighting that
enticed people to look at the outdoor advertising and thereby resulted in
increased sales.
Today, outdoor
advertising is no longer just limited to billboards, as illustrated by the vast
variety of light fixtures used for this purpose. Outdoor lighting can be in the
form of low-voltage outdoor lighting, accent lights, chandeliers, wall sconces,
lanterns and many more. Each of these provides different levels of light and
hence offers varying levels of effectiveness. Production and installation of
light boxes have therefore become important. Different types of lights need
different types of production and installation.
When talking of
production and installation of light boxes, the first thing that comes to mind
is the light source. Outdoor lighting is usually provided through outdoor light
posts or light poles. The box is then mounted on top of the pole and cable or
cord is run from it to the head of the fixture. Most often, the box is fixed on
the outside edges of the pole, but some companies also make use of holes in the
pole to mount the box. It is then mounted inside the house on the inside portion
of the door, window or any other external source of light.
Once the light source
has been identified, the color and design of the light box should be chosen.
Generally, the color of the light box is selected depending on the type of
material used to manufacture it, on the general theme of the outdoor
advertisement and, finally, on the direction of sunlight. Sometimes, though,
the color of the outdoor light fixture is decided based on the preference of
the designer or of the owner. However, the more popular trend is to match the
color of the light box with the color of the light fixture that is already
present on the outdoor advertisement.
Another production and
installation of light box is the task of fixing the light fixture onto the
light box. When it comes to this part, the responsibility falls on the
homeowner. He should measure the exact spot where the light fixture is to be
fixed so that he can avoid placing it in a place where it might cast a shadow.
Before actually fixing anything, the homeowner should carefully examine the
location where he plans to place the light box so that he can determine the
best type of light fixture that will fit the box.
A final production and
installation of light box is the assembly of all the components that comprise
the light box. The box must be assembled in an organized manner so that all the
parts fit properly. The outdoor light box has to be attached to the outdoor
power supply, to the wires, to the lights inside the box and to the weather
stripping that is already present on the exterior side of the box. Proper
spacing must be observed in the assembly process so that the wires, the light
bulb and the outdoor screws will not get caught in between the various parts.
